Middle School students find themselves in a state of transition between the simplicity of childhood and the more challenging choices of the high school years.  These young people have active minds and growing faiths and must establish themselves as faithful Christian young people in the midst of an ever-more-secular world.  Here at Cornerstone Christian School, we're aware of the challenges of the young teen years and have developed a curriculum that addresses the particular needs of middle school students.

Students in grades 6 through 8 rotate classes for Bible, Language Arts, Literature & Writing, Mathematics, Science, History, Physical Eductation, Foreign Language, exploratories (discipleship, study skills, life skills, computers) and electives each quarter (options include Band, Art, Home Economics, Shop, Yearbook, Newspaper, etc).   Middle School students develop leadership skills as they mentor elementary students in activites such as Reading Buddies, tutoring and special activities.

We want our middle school students to be aware and sensitive to the needs of others, sharing the love of Christ in practical ways, so outreach is an important part of their CCS experience.  Service projects include Gleaners Food Bank, Samaritan's Purse, helping with Love INC (Love In The Name of Christ) projects, Salvation Army homeless shelter meals, and clean-up on campus and off.  Enrichment continues with field trips (science & other museums, plays, visits to newspapers), quarterly outings adn activities, as well as a special end-of-year trip.  Year-end trips to the Creation Museum in Hebron, KY, Mackinac Island and Chicago, IL are rotated on a three-year basis.

Middle School students create and present several chapel services to the elementary students, which help them learn the importance of worship at the same time it fosters planning and creativity.  A special Arts Night highlights band, student artwork, readings, etc.  The Spelling Bee, Science Fair and Speech Meet also provide academic competition for middle school.
