To the Parents
Parents, we want to hear from you regarding your son or daughter. Any information or insight into the lives of your child will only help with what we do here on a weekly basis. We want you to know that we are not here to parent your child but to reinforce and strengthen what you do at home. In the event you need feedback from us on what we observe here in Student Ministries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Student Ministries FAQs
1. Why does my child need to have a notarized permission slip to attend activities and events?
A. The permission slips are vital so that we can seek medical attention for your child in the event of an emergency. Even if you are participating in an event, we still must have a notarized slip on file. We have 4 notaries on staff at the church M-Th. 8:30am-4:00 pm. Please call ahead to make sure someone will be available before you come in, or most banks will notarize for you for free if you have an account there.
2. How do I register my child for a trip, event or activity?
A. Stop at the Check-in table in each department and completely fill out a yellow payment envelope, place your check or cash into the envelope and drop the sealed envelope into the deposit box by the Youth Room. Please make sure the envelopes are completely filled out, as most times we have more then one activity or trip going on at the same time and incomplete envelopes causes a lot of confusion and not knowing which event or activity you are registering for.
3. What number do I call if I need to ask questions or talk to one of the Youth Directors?
A. 810-494-4032. This number is the main number for the Student Ministries Office.
4. What days does Student Ministries meet?
A. 180 (high school) meets on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am and Wednesday evenings at 6:45 pm in the Student Center.
B. 7UP (middle school) meets on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am and Wednesday evenings at 6:45 pm in East Hess Hall.
C. HWY 56 (5th & 6th Grades) meets on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am and Wednesday evenings at 6:45 pm in West Hess Hall.
5. Do you offer any assistance in payment if we can’t afford to send our child on a trip or activity?
A. We do have a scholarship program to help defer costs. A form is available in the Student Ministries Office and on the Students webpage which must be completed to apply for assistance. Once the form is received, it will be reviewed and you will be notified as to the amount that we will be able to offer.
6. Can I get a refund if my child cannot participate on a trip or activity?
A. The refund policy of CSM states that “all monies are non-refundable, unless your child’s spot on a trip or activity can be filled with another paying student. If we are able to fill the spot, a refund check will be mailed to you. The refund process takes approximately 2 weeks.
7. Why is my child not allowed to have their cell phones with them on trips and retreats?
A. The CSM “No Cell Phones” policy was established to help keep the students engaged while on the trip with their fellow students, and not closed off by playing games, calling or texting other friends or family not on the trip. It’s purpose is to build community among the students participating in that particular trip or activity.
