Membership & Inquirers Classes

If you're not a member of Cornerstone, now is a great time to join! Our newly redesigned classes offer an introduction to Cornerstone, encouragement as a disciple of Jesus and empowerment to serve God by using your spiritual gifts.

All of the lessons are taught by the church's pastors and ministry leaders in an informal atmosphere that encourages questions and open discussion. These classes are a great way to get to know the pastors better and to build relationships with other people from the church, while learning more about both Cornerstone's and your own beliefs.

There is absolutely no obligation to join the church if you take part in the classes and you will never be pressured to do so -- many new people at the church take them just to learn more about what we believe.

A ten-week class, meeting at 11:30 on Sunday mornings
Childcare is available in our nurseries and children's classes

5 Reasons to join a Church

Many attend, but never join ~ here’s a Biblical case for making things official:

Membership says, “I belong here,” and God says that believers belong together (Hebrews 10:23-25) You sense that God wants you here with the people of Cornerstone at this point in your Christian life, and you want to make a public declaration that you are committed to God’s work through this church.

Membership says, “We share the same ministry goals,” and God says that believers are to be committed to one another for the sake of spiritual impact (Ephesians 4:16) You believe that Jesus has work to do at Cornerstone, in Livingston County, in Michigan and throughout the world, and you’re willing to join with others to see that it gets done.

Membership says, “I accept responsibility for a group of fellow believers in the family of God,” and that’s God’s plan, as well (Galatians 6:1-2, 10) You want to be part of a caring network of people, sharing one another’s joys and sorrows, and helping one another grow through worship, Bible study and fellowship.

Membership says, “I am accountable to mature brothers and sisters in Christ for my walk with God,” and God warns against spiritual separateness (Hebrews 13:17 & Matthew 18:15-20) You don’t want to “go it alone” in standing for Jesus Christ, and want to receive the guidance, equipping and assistance necessary to remain on target.

Membership says, “I accept responsibility for how things are done here,” and God says that’s how it should be (1 Corinthians 12:20-27) Memberselect Elders, Deacons and other church officers and approve an annual ministry budget, as well as call pastors to serve as our spiritual leaders.
