Octavio Samaniego (Gus) is the new Director of Church Planting.  Gus is married to his wife of six years, Cheryl, and they have a three year old son named Noah.  Gus was born in Mexico in the midst of the Drug Cartel War and economic hardship, and God, in his mercy, used a Bible and Christian hospitality to bring him into His kingdom.  After a career in engineering, Gus is responding to God’s call to vocational ministry. Gus has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso.  During his graduate studies in Aerospace Engineering, God called him to vocational ministry, and he enrolled at Moody Theological Seminary where this year, Gus will be completing his M.Div..  Over the past 7 years Gus has served with para-church ministries as a youth missionary to at-risk youth in border towns, as Youth Director and Pastor in the inner city, multicultural context of Detroit and Flint, and in 2016 planted Soccer Without Boundaries, an outreach to Dearborn, MI Latino and Muslim men.  Currently he serves as a Moody Urban Scholar bringing Biblical scholarship, sound doctrine, and theology to inner city, at-risk neighborhoods of Michigan and as a  preacher at Carriage Town Ministries in Flint, MI.
